UPDATE REGARDING VIRUS & SESSIONS
I’m now offering online/remote sessions via video calls and instant messaging chat via Zoom (www.zoom.us) and telephone calls.
Recent scientific evidence suggests that risk of transmission of Covid-19 virus increases when talking/breathing in enclosed space (even when 2 metres apart) for 15 minutes or longer.
I’m looking into options for a venue which will be large enough to accommodate social distancing and a ventilation pathway for the near future when it becomes safer to meet for an hour in enclosed space.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but I don’t wish anyone to come to harm.
Take good care of yourself and each other.
About me and my therapy practice
Are you looking for a safe space to talk through problems?
Are you looking for some support towards positive change?
Sometimes we can’t talk openly with people in our lives; maybe they're unable to listen fully or appreciate what we are saying, or they're too closely involved that it can be awkward to speak honestly with them. Counselling can offer you an opportunity to really look at what is happening for yourself in the present moment. You don’t have to be going through a “crisis” to consider the need for counselling. What might be on your mind could be something that happened a long time ago.
My approach to counselling work is Person-Centred and Mindfulness-based; what this means is the work is intended to be non-directive, genuine, honest, open, free of judgement and based around the client’s goals. I believe you (as a potential client and all humans) have potential to change in a positive way. The Mindfulness aspect means bringing conscious awareness (our full attention) to the present moment – to be curious about what we notice without judgement.
I can offer short-term (approximately six to twelve (6 – 12) sessions) and long-term therapy, whatever suits you. Sessions are 60 minutes each, and we will usually start working together weekly initially, but we might space out sessions a bit more as our work draws to an end. I also offer discounted block rates for six sessions.
We will consider what your needs are by reviewing our work together throughout the process, which also can help you to notice and track any changes that you or people in your life are noticing about you. We will also consider what it is you want to see as a result of your counselling work, and what it will look like to you, so you will be able to recognise when you are closer to where you want to be.
My first session
Initial Meeting – 60 minutes for £20
In our first meeting, we will discuss what you hope to get from counselling and confirm what you want to work towards in your sessions. We will clarify what confidentiality means and the time frame we are looking to work within. We will confirm whether we will continue to work together by the end of this meeting.
It is an opporutnity for us to both ask questions and learn more about how things are for you now and what you would hope to gain from counselling. It's a chance for us both to decide if we're a "good fit" to work together.
Counselling Sessions – 60 minutes for £45
All counselling sessions following the first meeting will be £45 each. There is limited availability for reduced-rate sessions for students and those on low income. I also offer a block-rate discount - please see my website or contact me for further details.
