About me and my therapy practice

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Statement

I have an established online practice and I am currently only working with clients online. 

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist with a private practice in North Bristol working with individuals and couples. My role as a therapist is to support you to foster a healthy relationship with all aspects of your experience so that you can grow through your difficulty and fulfil your potential in your daily life.

I provide a safe, confidential relationship of earned trust within which you can explore the issues that feel important to you. I will support you to be present with whatever feels difficult, stuck and unresolved. When you meet your experience with compassion and openness, change and growth occurs naturally. This process involves getting in touch with your strengths and resources as well as attending to difficulties. It is a journey of recovering, discovering and deepening the core qualities within you such as compassion, clarity, confidence, creativity, connectedness, wisdom and love.

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues.. The areas that I specialise in are depression, anxiety, abuse, low self-esteem and relationship issues. 

I am a qualified Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist which is my primary therapeutic approach. I also have a postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Counselling and a further Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy. I have worked in a wide range of settings across the private, public and voluntary sectors including a charity for Disabled People in Torquay, the NHS in Exeter and as a counsellor in a G.P. surgery. I have experience with a diverse range of clients amongst the general public including the elderly, people with disabilities (physical and learning difficulties), carers, and people of ethnic minorities.

Introductory Meeting

Choosing a therapist to work with can be a daunting process and expensive if you want to meet more than one to find a good fit. To make that easier I offer a reduced cost introductory meeting.

My intention in offering an introductory meeting is to give you the opportunity to find out whatever you need to find out to make a decision about whether you would like to work with me. It gives us time for you to tell me about what you are needing support with, your reasons for seeking therapy, to ask any questions you may have, to get a sense of how we might work together and to address any concerns. It also gives you some time to get a sense of me as a person. Its important that you feel some kind of resonance, or ease, with whomever you choose to work with.
