About me and my therapy practice
I trained as an Integrative Transpersonal Counsellor and aim to help my clients overcome their emotional discomfort and connect with that deeper sense of self.
Something inside of you may be crying out to be changed? Are you feeling blocked or have a sense that life is not as you want it to be ? At such times we can benefit from extra support, independent of family and friends, to help us find our way through our what is troubling us and reach a greater sense of calm. I give place to what you are facing as I see that as a valuable part of what might be trying to be seen and understood.
How I work: I offer a confidential and impartial space where we can explore your issues in your own time. I will work with you beyond what is immediately present and strive to help you discover what can make your life feel whole and fulfilled.
I work psychotherapeutically, which means that I put an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship that we co-create. I can draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your specific needs. I also work within a Transpersonal framework, which allows you to get in touch with the deeper soulful part of yourself, that part that gives life meaning, making it rich and deep.
Prior to training as a counsellor I worked for a multi-national company where I had the privilege of managing global teams and working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I also work at Beacon Counselling in Stockport, a charitable organisation that provides an accessible counselling service to young people and adults.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Full Clinical Member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I adhere to both of their Codes of Ethics.
Please feel free to contact me directly, via the links on this page.
I work from Duke Street in Macclesfield, which is within easy walking distance of the train station (7 mins.) and the bus station (3 mins). There is a (pay) carpark opposite my counselling room.
Due to Covid-19 I am currently only able to offer on-line appointments. I have availability to see new clients and can offer flexible appointments at this time.
I do not work with young people under the age of 16 or couples; however, I will work with an individual on relationship issues.
My first session
Initial Consultation: Free
I offer an initial free 30 minute consultation where we can explore how I may be able to help you and gives you an opportunity to see if you would feel comfortable working with me. You can use this session to ask me any questions, to explore what you might like to change and any hopes or anxieties you may have about around engaging in a therapeutic relationship. You can then go ahead or go away and think about it.
If you decide that you would like to work with me, to get the most out of our work together, it is best to arrange regular weekly sessions. I can work with you on a short-term basis (normally 6 - 12 weeks) or we can engage in longer-term work to explore more complex issues and to allow for deeper therapeutic work to take place. If you are unsure what is the best approach for you that is not an issue - we can discuss what might work for you and start with an initial 6-8 sessions and, following a review, decide if you wish to continue to work with me on deeper issues.
