Dr Sobia Khan (PhD)
Please contact me if you are seeking a therapist who can adapt the counselling approach to your needs. I use a variety of scientifically proven, evidence-based therapies. For example, I have successfully used cognitive-behavioral therapy to treat depression, mindfulness for anxiety and psychodynamic techniques for relationship issues.
Alternatively, if you just need a space to talk, I can provide you with that and use a person centred approach where the counselling session would be determined by you.
I have a private practice working with adults and older adolescents presenting with a variety of emotional problems. I believe in the importance of good self-care, including regular exercise and a healthy diet, for optimum physical and mental health.
I am a fully qualified BACP registered Counsellor qualified up to PhD level. I am trained in multiple techniques and models for various psychological and day-to-day stress related conditions. I have over 12 years experience in working with people with psychological and emotional issues.
The use of the title Dr in this directory listing relates to the member’s doctorate qualification. However, this does not imply a general medical qualification.
Practice descriptionMy therapy style is integrative and adaptable. I have experience working with both men and women of all faiths and orientations. I also work with couples, families and young people using systemic and art based therapies.
My first session
I offer an initial free consultation over the phone.
This gives both of us a chance to learn about each other. It enables me to find out something about the nature of the difficulties that brought you here, and you to evaluate something about the way I work. We might discuss what our work together might look like, what your expectations are and whether I can meet them. It is an opportunity for you to get a sense of me as your therapist and to see whether this might be the right place for you
