About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Jess, and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist within Gloucestershire (PG Cert Level 7, PG Dip Level 7, MA).
I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental, empathic space, whereby we can work collaboratively to explore and unpick the issues and experiences that have brought you to therapy. Working together, we can then look at strategies to help you manage and move forward with the challenges you are facing.
Working as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist means I am able to draw on more than one counselling approach. Every client is different, therefore, working in an Integrative manner enables me to meet each client’s own individual needs. Within my Integrative practice, I work from a person-centred foundation, incorporating Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Humanistic approaches.
I am a registered member of the BACP, and therefore follow the BACP guidelines to ensure I am practicing ethically.
Practice description
I am trained to offer therapy to any person over the age of eighteen, and can support with a range of issues.
I also have a particular interest, and a number of years experience, working with people with dementia and their carers.
I offer online counselling to clients, using two secure virtual platforms - Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This enables you to receive counselling in a convenient and safe space.
My first session
In our first counselling session together, I will be interested in finding out a bit more about you, and what has brought you to therapy. In the first session we will also discuss the Counselling Agreement and the goals you are hoping to achieve within counselling – this will enable us to establish a safe, working relationship together. This session also provides you with the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have, to enable you to understand a bit more about me as a therapist.
It is understandable that you may feel anxious during your first session – please note you will not be expected to share anything that you are not comfortable with.
