About me and my therapy practice
If the solution to your difficulties was obvious you wouldn't be seeking therapy. I start by looking beneath the surface, particularly where strong emotions and unwanted behaviour affect day-to-day living. An improvement in mood early on will build confidence and pave the way for other desired changes.
I like to explore how the mind works and I try to balance support with challenge. With people who come for longer term therapy, I encourage what I call transformative change, using a person-centred approach. This is when a small change, often in attitude or belief about life or self, leads to lasting change in your way of being, thinking and relating.
I am flexible in helping people commit to sessions and occasionally use SKYPE. My twenty years working in the NHS has given me the competence and confidence to help people make the changes they seek, effectively and efficiently.
