About me and my therapy practice

We may all find ourselves feeling anxious, struggling to understand what's going on in a significant relationship or just plain stuck in our lives. I offer a quiet, professional space for you to step back from the rush of life and to be you at your own pace. People have come to see me for varied reasons - to understand why they feel depressed or anxious, to explore troubling relationships, to overcome the impact of the past in their lives or to work on anger management. I have a particular interest in working with people who are wanting to explore a diagnosis of Asperger's or Autism Spectrum Condition.

Practice description

If you’re new to therapy, it’s a big step to reach out.  It's also a huge investment in yourself.  At the heart of my practice is the belief that through meeting regularly and being curious about your experience, a natural and inevitable process of growth will unfold.  Within us all I believe there's a natural energy for psychological and emotional growth.  My job is to work collaboratively with you to create an environment where that energy can naturally do its work.  Sometimes the work may be slow and perhaps challenging  but it will always be at your own pace.  Behind the scenes therapy can move things around for the better - paradoxically, there is a change but you are still the same.  You've come home to yourself.

My first session

Firstly I offer a free 30 minute phone call to talk about what you're wanting and for us to talk about working together.  This is also your chance to ask me any questions you've got.  We won't be doing any therapy and there's no obligation to book another appointment.

If we decide to continue I suggest an initial one hour session (for which I charge £40) where we can discuss in more detail what you're looking for.  If you'd like to continue to work with me I suggest an initial commitment of 6 sessions.  My charge for this is  £50 per session.  This time will give you an experience of what working together is like and a sense of whether it's a good fit for you.  You are free to leave at any point.  At the same time I will also be deciding whether my skills and experience are a good fit for you.  If I decide that you would benefit more from a different therapist or approach I will tell you my reasons and can point you in the direction of other therapists if you wish.

You may find that these sessions are enough to address your concerns, or you may decide that longer term work would benefit you.  From here on we can decide together how to proceed.
