About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, and I offer both short-term counselling and longer term, open-ended psychotherapy, depending on your needs.

I work with all aspects of anxiety and/or depression. These can be as a result of, for example, loss, family and/or relationship breakdown, medical issues, your identity or struggles in the workplace.

My aim is to think with you about the current feelings you are struggling with (including what may have been stirred up by the current pandemic situation) and to work out with you what could be underlying these feelings. This means thinking with you about your current relationships, but also taking into account important relationships in your past, and how these may (unconsciously) be influencing your present feelings and behaviour.

I have worked for several years as a Women's Health Counsellor in an NHS Hospital (all issues to do with pregnancy and new parenthood, including loss). I have also worked for 10 years as a University student counsellor (including performance arts).

Issues that arise in my work are many and complex, and include gender identity, eating disorders, body dysphoria, perfectionism and procrastination, bereavement, suicidal ideation and self-harm. Through my experience of listening to clients with a diverse range of psychological and emotional difficulties, I believe that talking really does help.

I also work with those training as therapists. This could be ongoing once-weekly psychotherapy or simply a few sessions working on the theoretical/academic/emotional aspects of the training. If you would like to discuss an appointment, or ask any further questions, you are very welcome to phone or email me. I will call you back as soon as I can.

Practice description

I work from two consulting rooms, in London N4 and in N10. I also offer sessions online.

My aim to offer a peaceful, warm and confidential setting, where you are free to speak in confidence without fear of being judged or criticised. Talking to a trained professional can help you to clarify your feelings, explore them in greater depth, and begin to find new ways to cope.

My first session

Your first, initial consultation session will be a chance for us both to meet, to think further about what is on your mind, and to think about what might be the most helpful way forward for you. I will ask more direct questions than in ongoing sessions, to get a picture of you and your history as well as your life and relationships with family, friends, work etc now.

Having met, we can then think about whether we would like to work together. If so, we can then arrange a contract of ongoing sessions, whether short term, or longer term/open-ended.
