About me and my therapy practice

I offer support and help in a way that is predominantly person-centred and humanistic. This means that I listen to my clients, allowing them to express their thoughts, feelings, experiences and emotions in a relaxed, non-judgemental, empathic and confidential space. This can provide the opportunity to explore and open our eyes more fully to our own world, and gain a better and deeper understanding of issues that might be underlying any problems or difficulties. Counselling is very much about listening , and helping to identify the changes we wish to make, and to find our own ways of moving forwards. I also understand that, as human beings, we are all different, and therefore finding different ways of working can help the process along at times. I will always try to find a way of working that best suits my individual client. I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of BACP.

Practice description

There’s a multitude of reasons why someone might seek the support and help of a counsellor, and there are so many people that have benefitted by engaging with talking therapy. Life can throw up challenges quite unexpectedly in the present day, or sometimes our past experiences cause us difficulty. These events can have an impact on us that causes us emotional distress or struggles within our daily lives. If this resonates with your personal situation, then talking to, and being listened to, by a professional in a confidential, non-judgemental, safe and supportive environment may help you. Contacting a counsellor can be a courageous first step to take in working towards creating the changes in life that are right for you. Finding the right person, that you feel that you can talk to and share your most personal thoughts, feelings, emotions or experiences with is a really important part of that process.

My first session

If you decide that you would like to proceed following an initial consultation, during the first counselling session some of the time will be spent confirming and agreeing our way of working together. Thereafter, sessions are a time for you to identify what you would like to, or need to, talk about and I will support you in exploring whatever that matter might be.
