About me and my therapy practice
Counselling offers the opportunity to reflect on your thoughts and feelings, with someone you feel you can trust and who understands you.
It is different from talking to friends or family, in that you do not have to conform to another's expectations or judgemental thinking. Alongside being supportive, it can open up new ways of thinking and feeling.
My working style is informal, relaxed, and always hopeful. It is strongly rooted in self-compassion.
I am trained in Person Centred and Psychodynamic approaches, but I also have a strong interest in CBT. During our first meeting, we can talk about what exactly underpins these approaches, to help you to decide if they could be helpful for you.
Crucially, you will always decide the agenda. I understand it can feel daunting and uncertain to open up, but always know that you can say as much or as little as you please - without feeling pressured into saying any more, or any less than that.
My professional background was heading up a Counselling Service for a London Charity, and I now work in private practice. My fees are £45 an hour, but I can offer reduced rates for those who find it difficult to pay.
I work in therapy rooms in Central St Albans, close to the Mainline Station, and there is also ample parking nearby.
