About me and my therapy practice
I am an engaging, supportive integrative therapist, I integrate the following modalities; psychodynamic, cbt, person-centred, emotion-focused and gestalt.
I have a degree in counselling and psychotherapy, and I have a current ICO certificate for data protection.
I have experience of working with all ages, from 18 to 80. I have worked with a wide range of people from all walks of life, backgrounds and cultures, covering a vast range of issues, presenting and underlying.
My background includes counselling at a women’s counselling centre, where I worked with women for two years covering many issues, including women who were referred to me by SARC (Sexual abuse and rape centre)
I have always known that eventually, I would go into private practice so, from a professional viewpoint I wanted to expand my profile and experience. The suicide rates are much higher for men so, I decided to push for mental health support and awareness in a predominantly male workplace arena. I wanted to find a way to reach out to men who wouldn't normally consider counselling for various reasons, mainly through it not being easily accessible or encouraged.
My role as ‘Health and Social Care Coordinator’, for an international car manufacturing company, enabled me to implement support services that offered counselling sessions on site to all employees and raised mental health awareness across the board. My role included the delivery of many counselling sessions.
My first session
WHAT TO EXPECT
I offer telephone or 1-2-1 secure online zoom sessions.
This means, therapy is accessible at times convenient for you,
without the hassle of travel and parking.
Once I have received your initial enquiry we can consider our availability and arrange an assessment session. This is half the price of a normal session as it is a chance for us to meet, where I will ask you a few set questions. This will also give you another opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. You are most welcome to go away and have a think about whether I might be the right therapist for you.
If we are then both happy to proceed we can book your first session.
The first session:
I will just need to check that you are happy with the terms and conditions before we start and see if you want to add or subtract anything, as this lays a good solid foundation to begin with.
I will also need to take some contact details and information and cover the basic details of data protection.
I will check in with you during our sessions if it seems like the work is done, however, you can end your sessions at anytime but it is good practice to get closure,
so if it is possible to give some notice, we can then arrange an ending session.
