About me and my therapy practice
Psychotherapy is an opportunity for us to explore, through talking, how things are for you. In doing so, you get to know yourself better and understand more about the things that have happened to you and the choices you have made. I believe that it is this insight which allows us all to live happier and more fulfilling lives, in a way that fits better with who we really are. However you are feeling, whatever has happened to you and whoever you are, talking really does help to relieve confusion, discomfort or pain.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. People often describe this type of therapy as ‘going deeper’. This might be because an important part of the work is bringing what is unconscious into consciousness, through exploring how past relationships and our emotional development affect our present lives, behaviours and perceptions.
The people I work with come from all walks of life and seek therapy for all sorts of reasons. I have specific experience of and interest in working with:
• Anxiety
• Bereavement (including sudden and traumatic bereavement and bereavement by suicide)
• Depression
• Gender identity
• Issues related to intimacy or sex
• Phobias
• PTSD (sometimes called PTSI)
• Relationship difficulties
• Sexuality
• Survivors of abuse
I work with adults (people aged 18 and over) and do not work with children or young people.
My aim is to provide an inclusive service. Please let me know if you have any requirements which would make working with me more accessible.
Please note that the list of “What I can help with” is generated by the search criteria of this directory and is not exhaustive.
Practice description
I work from a dedicated private consulting room on the ground floor of my home in Lincoln (LN6), where you have the option to work either sitting in a chair on lying on a couch. Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place at the same time each week. Sessions are offered on an open-ended basis (meaning that we mutually agree when to end our work together).
Please note that I work face-to-face and as such do not offer regular online or telephone sessions.
My first session
The first step is to get in touch to arrange an initial meeting. This session is an opportunity for you to consider whether you would like to work with me. There is no need to make a decision during this meeting. This session will last 50 minutes and the cost is £60 (the same as for ongoing sessions).
Before our first meeting I will send you a Client Information Form to complete and return, or bring with you when we meet.
