About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in working with young adults, adolescents and children. I am DBS checked.
The main focus of my work is the development of the individual; thereby fostering a sense of self worth, identity and self-esteem.
I aim to develop therapeutic relationships with individuals to support them to safely explore personal issues within a compassionate and non-judgemental approach, helping them to come to terms with their situation and consider possible ways forward that are best for them, with the assurance of confidentiality within the parameters of the BACP ethical framework.
For the past 28 years I have worked in education, for 15 years as a teacher in Nottingham City schools: and more recently working therapeutically in Derbyshire schools to enable adolescents and children to come to terms with issues they were facing and thereby gain more from life and learning.
I gained BACP accreditation as a person-centred counsellor during a period of 4 years at Base 51, a youth support service in the City of Nottingham: counselling young people from the ages of 11 to 25 from different cultural and religious backgrounds, who were at school, in higher education or apprenticeships.
I have further developed my work with young adults through my private practice.
I have considerable experience of working with young adults, adolescents and children, covering a wide range of issues including anxiety, self-harm, self-esteem/identity, sexual orientation, depression, anger management, relationships, bereavement and loss.
If you’d like to discuss working together, please give me a ring for an informal discussion on 0782 861 5052.
