About me and my therapy practice
Day time and evening appointments available. I work with individuals and couples offering a safe and supportive space to explore thoughts and feelings about whatever is troubling you. My training is in Psychodynamic therapy and I will help you think about past experiences and how unhelpful patterns may repeat in your life. I have also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which works more in the ‘here and now’ to help challenge negative thoughts and change behaviours which keep you stuck.
I work from my garden room which looks out onto woodland. This provides a calm and reflective space for clients.
My first session
I offer all potential clients a free ½ hour consultation so that we can meet and decide whether I am the right counsellor for you. At our first full session, I will explain my confidentiality policy and take some brief contact information from you. During the first session with individual clients, I like to take a history so that I have a better idea of what has happened in your life and what has brought you to counselling. Couples tend to come in crisis so the first session is often spent wholly talking about what has brought you to counselling and I may not take a history until the second or third sessions.
