About me and my therapy practice

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist and I have a philosophical and spiritual experience of life with a calm, genuine approach towards our sessions. My own life experiences help me have a greater understanding and acceptance of the issues faced by others and I will listen to you and help you to understand and accept who you are.

You decide what you want to talk about in the sessions, this happens at your own pace with no pressure or expectations from me of what you should talk about.

Together we can explore your experiences and feelings, that are unique to you, and find the answers that you feel will help in your life. Helping you to become the authentic and genuine person you feel you should be, and can be.

Everything you tell me is confidential and I provide a caring and non judgemental space where I will listen to you, and also when it feels appropriate, offer my experience to the space and to you. I also recognise the power of silence and the need for reflection which can come from exploring yourself.

Practice description

At present I am offering online video counselling via Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, which in my experience is equally as effective as face to face, and also means I am able to be available to a wider reach of people across the country.

The first 2 sessions of online video counselling are offered at £40 for new clients.

I work with people aged 18+ years of age and have a previous working background in mental health services with the NHS. Having worked with adolescents, adults and older adults with a multitude of mental health issues, in community settings and also in adolescent psychiatric units.

I have a lot of of experience working with trauma and I am able to help you in examining and coming to terms with these experiences.

Below are some of the issues that I work with, but I am confident to work with what ever you want to bring to our sessions.

Trauma/s (PTSD+CPTSD), Fear and Anxiety, Death and bereavement, Relationship issues, Anger and how to experience and accept it, Depression and prolonged sadness, Abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, financial), Spirituality and what it means to you, Existence and it’s meaning to you, Substance Misuse, Race/identity and Sexuality, Age and it’s meaning to you, Body image and relationship with the body...

Each counselling session is once a week (same day and time online via Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp) for 50 minutes.

The price of each counselling session is £55 but I am offering the first 2 sessions at £40. If finances are an issue, let me know as I maybe able to offer an ongoing reduced session fee as I have space available for 2 clients with lower incomes.

I can offer extra sessions (at the same cost per session) if you feel you need them. If you want to pay for a block of sessions this is acceptable as well.

If you wish to know more about me and the Person-Centred approach feel free to contact me.

My first session

The thought of having counselling may seem scary and overwhelming, and I can relate to this from having had my own counselling experience, so I understand the first steps in contacting me may feel daunting.

You can email me, phone me or text me which ever you feel comfortable with and tell me a bit about what is going on for you, and then we can arrange a time and day for an assessment/consultation session.

The assessment/consultation session is where I go through an assessment form with you (this is a brief form requiring some personal details which are kept confidential, as is what you tell me) and the counselling contract. It also means you can meet me as well. This usually takes around 15 - 20 minutes and then we can continue with counselling for the remainder of the time.

Each counselling session is once a week (same day and time online via Zoom, Skype or WhatsApp) for 50 minutes.
