About me and my therapy practice

Above all, I am here to hear your story, support you and explore, helping you to find your own solutions to your own problems. I have over 3 years experience, working face-to-face and online. I am a qualified online counsellor serving clients via Zoom.

I offer a free, introductory, 30 minute consultation whose purpose is to establish what you want help with, how we would work together and to answer any and all questions you may have about how I work or counselling in general.

I have worked with clients from 16 to 77 years old, helping them to deal with Social Anxiety, Stress, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Low Mood, Suicidal Ideation, Relationship and family Issues, Body Dysmorphia, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Emotional Abuse and Narcissistic relationships, Low self-esteem and bullying.

My Person Centred/Psychodynamic approach to counselling

Being Person Centred means that I respect your autonomy allowing you to bring whatever concerns you wish and at a pace you are comfortable with. I endeavour to understand and empathise with your perspective, be non-judgmental and offer a warm, secure, confidential and safe environment within which to explore issues together. I am a very compassionate person which I have found invaluable in building a warm, trusting relationship that is the beating heart of therapy.

I integrate - where appropriate - a Psychodynamic approach. This helps demonstrate to us that current beliefs, patterns of behaviour and relating to others is often moulded by experiences from our past and that exploring/resolving those adverse experiences can offer deep insight and healing in the present.

Some CBT techniques are employed where negative self-talk or unhelpful thinking styles are present.

For some clients an exploration of spirituality can amplify and enhance healing and growth.

I cannot guarantee you will achieve all you desire. No-one can. But I guarantee you my utmost endeavour and profoundest commitment to your well-being.

Practice description

In my private practice I see clients face-to-face or online and sometimes 'hybrid' therapy which uses both communication methods. Many therapists offer the '50 minute' hour. My sessions are generally an hour long as clients appreciate this and often there is so much to say in such a short time.

My first session

In the first session we will establish what personal issues are troubling you, what you may like to change about yourself and what limits you from thriving. You may feel a lack of fulfilment or meaning, nagging anxiety or low motivation. You may have low self-esteem or suffer simply because of the state the world is in! The list of challenges we face can appear daunting.

Your story will be profoundly heard and I will explain how I work and how we can work together to achieve your goals. Any and all questions you may have can be answered so that you understand - with confidence - the way to move forward.
