About me and my therapy practice

BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor and UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, with 20+ years' experience working with adults and young people in diverse settings. These include private practice, university and college counselling, NHS Adult Mental Health services, employee assistance and workplace counselling. My experience also includes teaching counselling students, supervising therapists and working with groups.

Psychodynamic therapy is an exploratory approach. This means taking time in therapy to explore and reflect on your feelings and past experiences, to help make sense of the present.

We all carry within ourselves a rich internal landscape of people, places and experiences, which shape how we feel about ourselves and others. Sometimes, what we learn from the past can free us from feelings and expectations in the present which are no longer true for us and which we no longer need.

In therapy we may explore;

• the influence of past experiences on our present lives

• the power of unconscious processes

• the recurrence or repetition of patterns in relationships

• defences or the strategies we use to survive

• the connection between mind and body

As an Integrative practitioner, my work sometimes draws on ideas and techniques from other models of therapy. Hopefully, this helps me approach each client as an individual and to work flexibly with individual preferences and needs.

Currently, I work from home in Forest Green, a peaceful, rural location between Dorking and Cranleigh in Surrey. During the next few months, I am planning to take some of my work Outdoors.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative Psychodynamic Supervisor, with experience supervising trainee and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and clinical psychologists. I have worked in a variety of settings as therapist and supervisor, apart from my own private practice. These include working within the NHS in Adult Mental Health and Health Psychology, Staff Support and Student Counselling.

I draw from the Hawkins and Shohet supervision model, informed by psychodynamic thinking. This is a relational model, which can be applied to many therapeutic approaches and settings.

My fees are £60 per hour or £90 for 1.5 hrs supervision.

Concessions are available for students and groups.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to explore this further.

I hold a Diploma in Supervision from The Guild of Psychotherapists, 2015.
