About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Sarah and I am a qualified and specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Counsellor. I will offer you short to medium term solution focused therapy in a safe, nurturing and confidential environment for you to explore your issues which may be affecting you.

What is CBT and how does it work?

CBT as a therapy is a short term focused approach which is based on the idea that the way a person feels and thinks affects the way you behave. CBT explores the link between your thoughts, behaviours, feelings and physical experiences. CBT is especially helpful with anxiety and panic, depression, worry, OCD, stress and other issues. CBT enables you to overcome anxiety and panic. Anxiety and panic are treatable as CBT provides thinking about things in a different way which can help you to develop strategies and new perspectives.

CBT does not exclude your past because often the past will help me understand how you feel now, however the main focus is on the present. Therefore, for your therapy to be effective, we will collaboratively identify the changes you want to make to help you to move forward positively.

How I work:

Even though I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), I am a believer that therapy is not a “one size fits all” activity, therefore I will use Person-Centred therapy and Transactional Analysis when I feel it will benefit you.

My clients control the pace of therapy. I can guide you across that path with the support you need. Taking the first step into therapy can be a daunting task but I will make that process as comfortable as necessary.

Furthermore, I am a accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework at all times. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like more information about my therapeutic style or wish to explore your specific requirements.
