About me and my therapy practice

Please be aware I am currently offering online sessions only (via your preferred platform, e.g. Zoom, Signal, Whatsapp).

If you have decided you’re ready to get some help, to talk to someone or make some changes, I offer an open, genuine space where you can share what has been bothering you. I’m here to understand what is going on for you, not judge you or tell you what you ought to do. I’m here to listen and help you find a tailored solution that works.

I bring my 10 years experience in therapy, working with individuals experiencing distress or hurdles on their path. I offer a range of approaches to help you overcome the problem. Over time, you will notice the changes you want in your life.

Anyone who feels they have a difficulty as follows, is welcome to get in touch with me:

  • An event that has been difficult to forget, perhaps you notice feeling anxious or stressed if you're reminded of it (stress, trauma or PTSD)
  • Some kind of life change that you would like space to talk through;
  • A recent loss, such as a relationship ending, or a bereavement;
  • Recovering from bullying and abuse;
  • Work related stress or challenges;
  • Troubles with confidence or low self esteem;
  • Experiencing anxiety, panic, obsessive thinking, social anxiety or phobias;
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Please contact me if you have any questions, or to arrange a consultation.

Practice description

I have ten years experience working with people. I offer you a supportive, safe, non-judgmental, confidential therapeutic space to help you explore and find ways to change what you are not happy with.

I have trained and sought specific qualifications to offer effective ways to bring about change. I believe listening is powerful, coupled with options and ideas about what might help. I can draw on a variety of approaches that will help you get to where you would like to be. I am also a human being too, and I know how scary some of this can be - I offer warm encouragement, working at a pace that is right for you.

I have the following qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (University of Birmingham, 2019 - 2020);
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Psychosynthesis Leadership Coaching (Institute of Psychosynthesis, London, 2018);
  • Master’s Degree (MSc) in Counselling Psychology (Keele University, 2010-2013).
  • I attend regular professional development days.

My therapeutic work experience includes:

  • Women’s Aid - supporting people recovering from abuse.

  • A hospice - supporting people affected by life limiting illnesses, palliative care or bereavement.
  • An NHS staff therapy service - supporting all staff experiencing a range of life issues, particularly work related stress/trauma.
  • An NHS mental health service (IAPT), supporting people with a range of life issues, mostly common mental health problems such as anxiety, PTSD, OCD.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, where we can discuss what you are looking for help with and I can answer any questions you may have. If we agree we can work together, we can arrange a time that suits you and decide which virtual platform to use (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet etc). I will email you my therapy agreement for you to review and we can make time to discuss this in the first session.

The first session lasts about one hour, and there we can go into a bit more detail about the problem. I will offer you space to talk through your problem so we are clear on our focus together.

Once we have a shared understanding of what the problem is, I will work with you to achieve your goals. You may wish to speak to someone neutral outside of your friend/family, or you may wish to identify techniques and strategies to help you change something specific.  I am not there to judge you, give you my opinion or tell you what to do - I aim to hear you and help you find a way through that is right for you.

Before we end therapy we can complete a wellbeing plan for you to take away and consolidate what has been useful.

What I can help with

Abuse, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Executive coaching, Health related issues, Identity issues, Leadership coaching, Life coaching, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Service veterans, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues

About me and my therapy practice

I offer workplace workshops and group sessions.

Group sessions I have delivered in the past include topics such as relaxation, stress psychoeducation workshops, and holistic wellbeing. I have also lectured in Psychology and trauma, so can deliver relevant topics.

I am particularly passionate about self-care for professionals and realistic ways of integrating practises in daily life. I have delivered many group sessions to professionals on this topic and it makes me so happy when people share with me their ways of applying what they have learned after attending a session with me - many of which have transformed their life.

I have also offered group coaching, which is based on systemic principles and psychosynthesis leadership coaching. This supports reflection on group dynamics or a problem the group is facing. I coach and facilitate reflection during the process, working with individual members and the spirit of the group too. The process is dynamic and involves all members, which then allows the group to decide a way forward. Again, this is a transformative process.

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Approach

I offer support in maintaining good practise, provide an opportunity to reflect on your work, and support you in working safely and ethically. I am also passionate about ensuring you integrate self-care in order to sustain you.

I have ten years experience offering integrative Humanistic therapy. This includes, Person Centred Therapy, Psychosynthesis and Transactional Analysis. I have worked with many presenting problems, including bereavement and end of life care, work related stress, trauma, for an IAPT service, as well as private practise.

More recently I have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is an in-depth form of CBT as I felt I kept 'borrowing' from CBT and I felt a grounding in the approach would be beneficial.
