About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm, supportive and experienced therapist, who provides a calm, non-judgmental and confidential environment for clients to explore their difficulties. I have over 15 years experience as a counsellor and I am passionate about providing a high quality, individually tailored counselling service to people who are in need of empathy and support to find a positive way forward. I believe that the experience of sharing difficult feelings; of being 'heard' and not judged can be liberating and empowering. I understand that coming to counselling can be a scary prospect for many people who have never experienced it before. I am committed to providing compassion and acceptance in order to help clients change and overcome their issues.

I work with individuals and couples. When appropriate we can include relaxation techniques from mindfulness and meditation in the sessions.

We all have times in our lives when we find it hard to cope. Counselling can help you understand why you think, feel and act like you do. It can help you develop positive strategies to get what you want /need out of life. How we think, feel and behave is part of being human. But problems can arise when we get 'stuck' in negative thought patterns; when our feelings are persistently overwhelming/painful; when our behaviour is self destructive and doesn't result in us getting what we want/need; when we worry about the future , dwell on the past and find it hard to live in the present.

My first session

At our first session we will explore what you want from therapy. Over the first few therapy sessions we can draw up a verbal contract of what you would like to achieve in therapy. This can be reviewed, revised or completely changed at any point during therapy.
