About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. My specialist areas are working with anxiety and depression, past traumas and family issues. I can also offer some more practical advice on coping with the increased stress of being under lockdown.
I am fully qualified having both a PGDip in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and a Masters in Psychotherapy. I am a member of both the BACP and UKCP and practice under their code of ethics. Prior to retraining as a psychotherapist I worked as a clinician in the NHS. This has given me the experience of working with a wide range of people with different physical and mental health problems and a strong grounding in the ethics of responsible practice.
I work with an integrated style that is psychodynamically based and tailored for each client's needs. Cognitive behavioural therapy and systemic therapy are some of the methods that I incorporate as required. I undergo regular further training as part of continually developing and strengthening my practice.
Current research shows that the key to successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. With this in mind I suggest that we have an initial phone conversation to touch on what has lead you to seek counselling. Then I would suggest we have an initial assessment session to gain a further understanding of your situation and allow us to decide whether we would like to continue working together.
My Hove practice is well serviced by local bus routes and is conveniently located near Hove mainline railway station. There is pay & display parking outside the practice and free parking at the local supermarket (subject to conditions). I also work in Brighton and offer the option of telephone counselling.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. My specialist areas are working with anxiety and depression, past traumas and family issues.
I also offer sessions tailored to help people to adjust to the upheaval of the coronavirus outbreak.
I have a masters degree in psychotherapy and my work is tailored to meet your individual needs. In my work I draw on ideas from psychodynamic theory, CBT and systemics. These approaches allow me to help you understand how your body responds to stress, how your internal world may be influenced by past experiences and how familial and societal stuctures may at times constrain your responses. My approach offers you a greater understanding of your personal world and with that an opportunity for greater self-acceptance, self-awareness and the opportunity for something different going forwards.
Prior to retraining as a psychotherapist I worked as a clinician in the NHS which has given me a strong grounding in the ethics of responsible practice. It also affords me the knowledge of the unique challenges posed to individuals with a diverse range of social backgrounds and different health issues; as well as an insight into the challenges of working in the caring professions.
I am a member of both the BACP and UKCP and practice under their code of ethics.
I undergo regular further training as part of continually developing and strengthening my practice.
