About me and my therapy practice

Counselling and Psychotherapy in Holloway, London N7

Long-term open-ended psychotherapy and short-term counselling for adults of all backgrounds.

My clients come from every walk of life. My way of working is relational, which means I hope to connect with my clients on a personal level. I don't hide behind a professional facade and am not, in general, silent.

I work by providing a safe, confidential space in which to begin a conversation about the issues that are really affecting you. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed or confused by your feelings, or have the sense that you don't know what your feelings are, counselling and psychotherapy can help.

My approach to therapy is relational. This means I work to build a boundaried therapeutic relationship with my clients, in which we can think together about their feelings and experiences and the relationships in their lives, both now and in the past.

I am a Registered Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred.) and work according to their Ethical Guidelines. I work from safe, comfortable, accessible rooms in Holloway, North London.

I trained in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Birkbeck, University of London and prior to this, studied Person-Centred Counselling.

I established my private practice in 2013. In addition to open-ended psychotherapy, I see clients for short-term counselling through an Employee Assistance Programme. I teach on a psychodynamic counselling training course which is accredited by both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).  My previous work included writing, editing and tutoring.

Practice description

Sessions are 50 minutes long and take place at the same time each week.

Boundaries are important in therapy. I start and end sessions on time, let clients know in advance of any upcoming breaks and will clearly explain my policies around confidentiality and missed sessions.

I send an invoice at the beginning of each month for payments in the previous month. Most clients choose to pay via bank transfer.

My first session

Initial appointment £50

Fee for ongoing work is negotiable. I aim to offer therapy at an affordable and sustainable rate.

At an initial appointment, I will ask you what has brought you to therapy and begin to think with you about whether what I offer is appropriate for your needs. The initial appointment will last for 50 minutes and costs £50. We can both take some time to think after the session about whether to embark on a therapy.

If we agree to work together, we will find a time of the week that suits us both and agree a fee.
