About me and my therapy practice

Having worked in a number of different settings I found my way to counselling and qualified with a Level 5 Diploma in 2018. I have been practicing since then and have had experience of working with people from diverse background, cultures and with a variety of presenting issues.

I work primarily with those who share my own Christian faith. I have completed training with the Christian Counselling and Education Foundation and have also trained with 'Image counselling'; gaining experience working with issues around fertility, infant loss and miscarriage.

Before beginning counselling we would complete a telephone assessment where you have the opportunity to help me to understand what brings you to counselling. We will then decide whether we are a suitable fit and organise our first session.

If I do not have space immediately then I am happy to still take your details (which will be stored securely) and I will get in touch as soon as I have an available slot.

Sessions cost £40-45 depending on how many sessions we agree to.

Practice description

I work in an integrative way; this means that I do not have one way of working with people. The style of therapy will vary from person to person depending on your own unique needs in therapy. I enjoy working creatively and will sometimes use paper and objects during sessions to help explore what's going on for you.

The important thing is that we are working together, helping you on your therapeutic journey to find the best ways to support you in your current circumstances. I believe that a key to a positive therapy experience is building trust and having a good relationship between counsellor and client, so I do my best to offer a warm and welcoming environment where you feel comfortable.

My first session

Following the assessment, we will meet for our first session. This involves going through a therapy agreement where we discuss practicalities, the way I work, expectations and have a more in-depth chat about some details you gave me in the assessment conversation.

I will ask you various questions about why you are looking for therapy at this time, how you hope it may help you and ultimately, what you want to gain from it. It is unlikely that we will have time for an in-depth counselling session but I do like to make a little time for you to offload some of what is happening.

Once we both have all the information that we need, you will have an opportunity to choose whether you want to move forward into a formal counselling agreement. If you do, we will complete the therapy agreement form, GDPR paperwork and agree a fee.

Once all this is done we can then agree a date to start the actual counselling.
