About me and my therapy practice
We are all living through challenging times and our mental health is more important than ever. I know from personal experience, that counselling can help us remove barriers that have prevented us from reaching our full human potential. My priority is to offer a safe and confidential space where you can talk and be heard, without judgement of any kind. I believe that by working together - creatively and mindfully- we can reach a place of less fear, anxiety and sadness while making possible a life with more hope, gratitude and yes - happiness.
As an integrative counsellor, I use a variety of approaches depending upon the individual's needs. For me, one of the most effective of these is Mindfulness. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy ( MBCT ) is a proven method for issues such as anxiety, stress and depression. Mindfulness also fosters wellbeing. Mindfulness meditation allows us to push the pause button on our "automatic pilot " so that we can find the stillness and peace that exists inside each of us.
I believe that we are all unique and therefore have different issues. The initial phase of counselling is often focused on finding out more about the client's own issues.
Issues that I specialize in include: Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Relationships, Self-esteem, ADHD, Co-dependency, Divorce, Infidelity, Men's Issues, and School issues.
I work with both individuals and couples, as well as adolescents.
Am an integrative counsellor using different approaches, including family systems, humanistic counselling and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.

I had already been trained in Family Systems and as a group counsellor had conducted workshops in the family, self-esteem, relationships, etc. And then, in the more recent past, I faced a health crisis like nothing I had ever faced before. Due to stress in my life at the time, my blood pressure spiked and anxiety attacks followed.
My cardiologist at the time suggested that I look for a way to relax and to deal with my anxiety. It was around that time that I discovered Mindfulness, something that I had heard about but really did not know very much about. However, the more I learned, the more I started to integrate the approach into my life, including a daily mindfulness meditation practice. All I can say is that it made a massive difference in my own life. I was able to quit my medication soon after and I have never looked back. Mindfulness shows us that thoughts are not facts. And it can help us become more aware about the choices we make in life. For instance, when facing a life situation, we can choose to be " reactive "( eg. a knee-jerk type reaction) or we can choose to be more "responsive ": to respond more mindfully with more compassion for others and for ourselves.
My experience taught me that none of us has all the answers. It is estimated that one in four of us will need help with our mental health, at some point in our lives. For me, counselling is all about an authentic relationship between client and counsellor. That relationship needs to be based upon trust, honesty and mutual respect. Like with any relationship this takes time, but on this basis real personal change becomes possible. Together, we are able to explore difficulties, bounce ideas off each other and to be creative in finding solutions that can work.
My first session
First telephone consulation is free.
Going forward, £60 per hour for individuals.
Joint couples sessions: £90 per hour.
Introductory offer: book min. of 6 sessions in advance and get one session for free.
Unlike some counsellors, my appointments are for a full hour.
Also, please know that when working with individuals it is an exclusively one-on-one session, normally by ZOOM, which is easy to use and free. Simply download the ZOOM app.
