About me and my therapy practice

Hello I'm Suzanne, a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor with an advanced (level 5) Diploma.  I understand that life can bring with it many struggles, both historical and current, and I firmly believe that the therapeutic 'space' (that is the relationship between therapist and client) allows clients to explore and make sense of their life experiences, choices, relationships and future goals. The work is collaborative, and led by the client.

I offer short or longer term therapy for young people and adults on a one to one basis. Currently, all sessions are offered online due to covid-19. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychothepary (BACP), I adhere to their code of ethics, which supports professional practice and ethical working. My aim is to develop a safe, comfortable and warm relationship with my clients, focussing on their unique stories. The environment is non-prejudicial and non-judgemental, where everyone is treated with respect and equality.

Practice description

An integrative approach means that I can draw on many different therapeutic models according to the needs of each individual client and the goals for the work that we agree on, together. The aim is to develop a strong bond so that my client feels I am 'walking alongside' him or her, as they explore various areas of their lives. I particularly focus on the following approaches:

Psychodymanic - which helps link past interactions and experiences with current ways of relating and life choices.

Person centred - a humanistic approach which ensures clients, and their opinions and beliefs about themselves, is central to the work. This approach supports and respects that every person has an inbuilt drive to reach their full potential, given the right conditions.

I also use elements of other theories, such as Transactional Analysis, Transpersonal, Gestalt and Jungian.

My firm belief is that the relationship between "us" - my client and myself - is key and it will be a focus in our work together.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute initial chat (currently online, via Zoom). This will give us the opportunity to meet, get to know each other a little and decide if we feel we can work together.
