About me and my therapy practice

I have worked as a qualified counsellor since 2002 with adults and young people in various settings: a GP surgery, a charity, a low-cost clinic, primary and secondary schools, and in private practice. Prior to my counselling training I worked in the fields of mental health, homelessness, drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

I currently work in private practice and a secondary school, and offer long and short-term individual work with adults and young people. I also work with children and parents together. I offer face-to-face counselling as well as online work for those who are 16 and over.

My approach is psychodynamic, offering a creative, safe and confidential space for clients to explore their past, present and future. I am led by the client - the issues they would like to bring and what they hope to achieve in the counselling. I give time and attention to what takes place in the room, in the here and now. It is a collaborative space, my stance being strongly relational, valuing the importance of relationships and our experience of these throughout our lives.

Adults and young people I have worked with have faced a range of difficulties and life challenges. These have included: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family separation, loss and trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, long-term physical or mental health issues, addiction and self-harm.

My practice room is located in central Lewes, 5 minutes walk from the train station and bus routes and 2 minutes from a public car park.

My first session

An initial consultation (£45) lasts up to one hour, during which you can tell me a little about yourself and why you are seeking therapy. This meeting will also give you the opportunity to get a sense of the way I work, and allow us both to ask any questions we may have.

If you are a parent or carer seeking therapy for a young child, I would meet with you initially to talk through the difficulties you feel your child is experiencing and gather some family history. These first meetings allow us to ask any questions we may have and think about the options for supporting your child.
