About me and my therapy practice

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Life makes lots of demands on us which can be overwhelming, create negative feelings and sometimes we struggle with what to do or where to turn. Nothing is off limits in what you wish to bring to therapy, such as anxiety and depression to grief and relationship issues be it family, personal or work. Whatever is going on I can hear you and meet you wherever you are at.

Counselling gives you a confidential, safe space to express yourself without fear of judgement or upsetting people close to you. It helps you understand why you feel the way you feel and do the things you do. This can mean exploring your emotions and looking for patterns of behaviour within yourself and in others that may trigger things within you. Having a better understanding of what is happening means you can find acceptance of some things whilst also finding strength to make changes in other areas.

As a qualified Integrative Counsellor, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches which I tailor to you and your needs. I work in an open-ended and flexible way so you are not restricted to a set number of sessions, days or times, I am guided by you and your requirements. Online and face-to-face sessions (based in Yeadon) are available. I work with people 18yrs and over.

A bit about me…

I have been a Sports Massage therapist since 2004 and Manual Lymph Drainage therapist from 2012 working with many different medical issues. During my work over the years communication has been so important, understanding and empathy key factors in looking at the individual as a whole. I began to realise just how important the emotional and mental well-being of my clients was and how it impacted the physical body. This led into learning more about counselling and psychotherapy and eventually training at Leeds Beckett on their Post-Graduate Diploma, during which I found having my own counselling so helpful as I learnt a lot about my own emotional state and personal issues.

My first session

I offer a free no obligation 20-30 minute 'meet and greet' so you can see if you feel comfortable with me. The meeting allows us to get to know each other a little bit and you can ask any questions about counselling and what you would like or expect from counselling. I can explain more about how I work and we can see if that fits with you. The sea of therapists can be daunting and I feel it is important to get the right counsellor for you.
