About me and my therapy practice
Ever felt lost and directionless?
Seen your confidence hit rock bottom, unable to say no?
Felt immense loss from a relationship, death or retirement?
Coping with chronic pain, anxiety and depression?
You maybe reading this because you are in that place where you no longer wish to continue dealing with things alone. That you want to say out loud the words and feelings that fill your head.
As a person-centred counsellor, I'm not here to judge your life but try to step into your shoes and try to understand your world. I will not always understand and so I may ask questions to better help me to do that. In this time of polarisation in the world, you don't have to agree or look like me for us to work together. Conversations can be on race, religion, sexuality, relationships or work. Cultural differences can be explored, political views, gender and identity.
The counselling space is yours to talk about what feels hard to articulate. If you don't have words for the feelings, that is okay. I will be there supporting you and allowing you to voice the things that are so hard to share with loved ones or difficult to understand for yourself. I also work with metaphors, visual explanations of feelings and dreams.
These are some of the roles I have had:
I have been a bereavement counsellor, community counsellor supporting those with anxiety. I have also been a counsellor to non abusing parents of abused children and university students.
My private practice has enabled me to offer counselling to all sections of the community. My particular areas of interest has been in supporting people who have experienced loss. This can be death, relationships ending or retirement. It can be a transition, anxiety around milestone birthdays, chronic pain, infertility, perimenopause, menopause, hair loss, loss of mobility.
I am also interested in identity and belonging in various cultures, how that effects self esteem and confidence.
