About me and my therapy practice
What is counselling? Will my counsellor judge me? Will my counsellor understand me? I'm scared. These are some of the thoughts that may have passed through your mind. I want to reassure you that counselling can be transformative and less scary if you know what it involves.
To me, counselling is two people in a room, one listens, the other talks about whatever comes into their mind. As a person-centred counsellor I value not pressuring people to open up before they are ready and I see myself as your guide through the minefield of your experiences. Maybe it's working through a past trauma, trying to make sense of a confusing time in your life, working through grief or planning for your future.
As a visual counsellor I use metaphors and imagery, sometimes we can't always find the words to explain how we feel but we can see things as a sinking ship or a dark cloud.
I am fully qualified as a counsellor with a Bachelors of Science Psychology Degree and a Diploma in Counselling. My background is varied, I have worked in retail, insurance, within a hospice and in learning resources.
Should you choose to have counselling with me, you will find a person who is warm, non-judgemental and willing to really step in your shoes to understand you.
