About me and my therapy practice
In this current climate, social isolation brings up many issues that can be explored through counselling. Sometimes it's hard to know where to turn.
As a Person Centred Counsellor, counselling is centred around your needs. If you come to me feeling stuck and anxious, I work with first making you feel comfortable. This means that you can ask me to clarify anything at any time, I work at your pace and so there is no pressure to examine issues deeply if you do not feel ready. It also means, when you are ready, I will be there with you, helping you to navigate painful topics in a non-judgemental way.
My experience as a Bereavement Counsellor in North London has enabled me to support all forms of loss, whether it involves a relationship breakdown, a death, the loss of a job, effects of adjusting to ageing, miscarriage, infertility, loss of identity and issues around chronic illnesses.
As a community counsellor in Waltham Forest, I have offered time limited sessions where clients focused on what areas they felt most caused them anxiety. Many people have sat in my counselling room with no idea what is causing their depression and with gentle work, we have examined thought patterns and memories to enable clients to find their own place of peace.
As a BAME counsellor, I have experience of working with issues relating to faith, racism, identity, family dynamics and intergenerational trauma.
Now that counselling has moved online and via telephone, you can still expect the same attention to listening and the reflections that will provide insights. I have worked with all ages, sexes. races and sexual orientations, I will always do my best to understand you.
I am here to listen when you are ready.
I offer telephone counselling and online counselling using Zoom. Some people prefer the anonymity of the telephone to really be able to open up and the flexibility of taking their sessions anyway in their homes or outside. Other people prefer online counselling where they can see me as their counsellor. Both mediums provide an opportunity to explore your pain and a place I can support you. We can explore what is best for your needs in an assessment.
My first session
Please send me an email and I will forward some information. If you would like me to read the forms to you, we can do that in our assessment session.
The assessment session will last 30 minutes and gives you a taster of what counselling is like and an opportunity to ask question and arrange future sessions. It also allows me to see if you would benefit from counselling with me or better suited to other specialised help.
On the day of the telephone assessment, I will call you at an arranged time that suits us both for a telephone session and we can discuss your needs.
Should you wish to have counselling, I will provide separate information on the next step.
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes and the fee is discussed in the assessment with concessions available to those who are key workers or on a low income.
