About me and my therapy practice

"Be like a Dandelion. Whenever they fall apart, they start up again. Have hope." Dandelion Counselling offers psychotherapeutic counselling for children & young people.Counselling is an opportunity to explore feelings and build resilience in a creative, safe and containing space. Dandelion Counselling uses an integrative, client-led, creative approach, enabling the client to find their own answers and build resilience. The model of counselling is non-directive and non-judgemental, focussed on seeing things from the young person’s point of view. For kids: A counsellor can help you when you feel sad, cross, scared, worried, annoyed or frustrated with yourself, with school, or with an adult or other people around you. Counsellors are trained to help you make sense of these 'muddly' feelings. You come each week to work with a trained counsellor so that life isn’t so full of strong emotions. We have toys, games, art stuff and lots of other fun stuff! We try to really listen to you and to understand your 'muddly' feelings and help you to figure out what you would like to change. We are patient and happy to be with you while you do what you choose. For young people: Counselling creates a space for you to explore the things that matter to you. Sometimes, life can be tough and people growing up can be under a lot of pressure. Whatever is on your mind; problems, decisions, worries, mixed-up feelings or changes, a counsellor can help you explore these and support you to work out what is holding you back or the things you would like to be different. We can help you to consider strategies and options that really work for you. You will be in charge of the ‘agenda’ in your counselling session. Warm Wishes Ailsa
