About me and my therapy practice
Durham Counselling and Psychotherapy.
You may be looking for a counsellor for a variety of reasons. Events may have occurred that have left you feeling confused, overwhelmed, sad or afraid. We all need a bit of extra help at times and counselling can be a place for you to make sense of what you are experiencing, make positive changes in your life and to increase your sense of well-being.
I will assist you to do this by providing a space where you will feel heard and understood. Where you are met with compassion and acceptance as I help you to try and make sense of your emotions so that life can begin to feel easier.
I am a humanistic integrative counsellor. This means that I place the building of a safe and trusting relationship with you central to my work, whilst integrating other approaches which I feel may be of benefit to you.
Please visit my website for more information on how I might be able to help you.
I have over ten years of experience of working in a variety support settings. Such experience includes Victim Support, working in student support at Durham University and four years as a Practice Counsellor at GP Surgeries in County Durham. I now dedicate my time to Private Practice and mentoring at one of the Durham University colleges. I've had my own private therapy practice for three years.
Due to current circumstances I've moved my practice to online and telephone only. The same counselling principles apply to online and telephone therapy as they do in face-to-face counselling. However, there are additional advantages and disadvantages in accessing therapy in this way. Please check out my website for more information on this or contact me.
