About me and my therapy practice

Melanie Hudson Counselling & Psychotherapy in Durham.

You may be looking for a counsellor for a variety of reasons. Events may have occurred that have left you feeling confused, overwhelmed, sad or afraid.

We all need a bit of extra help at times and counselling can be a place for you to make sense of what you are experiencing, make positive changes in your life and increase your sense of well-being.

I will assist you in doing this by providing a space where you feel heard and understood. Where you're met with compassion and acceptance as I help you to make sense of your emotions so that life can begin to feel easier.

I am a humanistic integrative counsellor. This means that I place the building of a safe and trusting relationship with you central to our work, whilst integrating other approaches which I feel may be of benefit to you.

Please visit my website for more information on how I might be able to help you.

Practice description

I have over fourteen years of experience working in a variety of support settings. These include Victim Support, Durham University, and Citizens Advice. I spent four years as a Practice Counsellor in GP Surgeries. I now dedicate my time to Private Practice. My private therapy practice has been running for over six years.

I offer appointments face-to-face, online (via Microsoft Teams) or by telephone.  The same counselling principles apply to online and telephone therapy as they do with in-person counselling. However, there are additional advantages and disadvantages to accessing therapy in this way. Please visit my website for more information or contact me.
