About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling which is effective for treating anxiety, depression and trauma, whatever the cause.
Together we set objectives which are appropriate for your needs. I see the counselling session as your personal time and space to explore whatever you are finding difficult. My role is to focus on what you are feeling about your life and what you want to get out of it. We identify the gap between how you want your life to be and how it is now. I support you to work out your own solutions rather than telling you what to do because, although you might find it difficult to believe at the moment, I believe you are the expert on your own life.
Counselling usually takes place in Piccadilly House which is located in Piccadilly Gardens, central Manchester.
However, for the foreseeable future, I am providing 50 minute daytime video sessions via an HIPAA compliant telemedicine platform. The way this works is that I send you an Email containing a link which you click on each time you have an appointment and this allows us to see and speak to each other.
My first session
In the first session I take personal details (e.g. address, telephone no, Email, GP details), we sign the counselling contract to ensure we are agreed on how we can work together with mutual safety and respect, I conduct an assessment of the level of your mood over the previous week, you explain to me why you have come to counselling and what you hope to get out of it, and we agree on goals for therapy.
