About me and my therapy practice

Bereavement, Loss and Grief Counselling

I help people who are grieving the loss of a loved one by listening to them, supporting them and understanding their unique situation.

I'm wondering if ,at the moment, you're grieving- and you're finding that you need to be supporting other family members too with their loss-leaving no time for you to grieve?

I wonder whether you are feeling like you can't keep talking about the person you miss, as you feel you don't want to bother people with your sadness?

It may have been a while since the person you love died, and you're thinking those around you expect you to be 'over it' by now?

Also, grief can occur after other life events too.

Grief can be experienced after many kinds of losses, for example grief can be felt after the end of a relationship or friendship, after the end of a career, whether this has ended due to redundancy, termination, or ill health, or perhaps there may be grief felt after an illness, where the illness has led to a loss of independence?

I'm wondering if any of those situations sound familiar to you?

How would it feel for you to be listened to?

Time just for you, and your story, to be heard?

To have some time- time just for you?

My clients have told me that , even after the first appointment, they have felt a difference, just by being listened to, heard and accepted.

Every person's grief is unique to them. Having grieved myself, I know that every person has their own unique thoughts and feelings which are not like anyone else's.

To book an appointment, please send me an e-mail and I will respond within one day.

Practice description

More information about my counselling practice can be found on my website, which is:

www.caringcounselling.co.uk

I have seven years' experience in counselling clients with various presenting issues , from my work as a volunteer counsellor at a local Christian counselling organisation.

I currently work with adults over the age of 18 years.

As a bereavement, loss and grief counsellor, I have a deep understanding of grief and how each person grieves differently.

This ensures that you will receive counselling which is tailored to your own individual situation and needs, at each session.

I offer face to face appointments, held in Canvey Island at my home, or in a suite of purpose-built counselling rooms, in Benfleet, with parking outside.

This means that you are able to choose the location that is most convenient for you to get to.

During your counselling session, I will listen attentively, offering kindness and support, without any judgement , to your personal story and work with you to achieve the best outcome for you, to enable you to live a fulfilling and purposeful life.

As a Christian, I can offer faith based counselling, if you would like this.

I still offer counselling online, which enables you to easily and safely access counselling services from your home.

I am trained in both online (Zoom) counselling and telephone counselling , I am happy to give training on using Zoom if needed, this training is at no cost to you.

I am a Member of ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online)

Headphones are worn to ensure complete privacy during your phone or Zoom call.

If you would like to book an appointment, please e-mail me and I will respond withing 24 hours.

I will endeavour to offer you an initial appointment within a week of your enquiry.

My first session

I offer a free, 30 minute, initial appointment , either on the phone or on Zoom, before your first session.

The reason that I offer this to you is for you to talk to me about how you are feeling right now and what is happening for you, you are, of course, free to ask me any questions and to choose where and how you want to have your first session, for example whether you would prefer Zoom, face to face, or phone counselling.

This no-obligation initial appointment will give you the chance to find out if we could work well together, as it is really important that you choose a counsellor that you are comfortable with, as a good counselling relationship is so important in your counselling journey .

When we meet for our first session, you would need to allow around 90 minutes to include going through our counselling contract and for me to take some information about you, for example contact details and some brief questions about your situation before we start the counselling session.

You are free to choose how many sessions you need, there is no requirement for you to have a set number of sessions as everyone has different needs and situations.

Please send me an e-mail to ask me any questions and to arrange an initial, 30 minute no-obligation appointment.
