About me and my therapy practice
I offer a confidential, warm and non-judgemental environment. As a BACP registered and accredited counsellor, I have substantial experience both in public sector organisations, and as a private practitioner, and have worked with a wide range of complex issues, supporting people to make successful changes in their lives. I work humanistically and creatively with the therapeutic relationship remaining at the heart of the process. My training (Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy) is as an integrative counsellor, which means I use a variety of approaches and modalities. These can either be discussed with you during the early stages of the counselling process, or can become a more organic experience as we begin working together.
Whilst not a psychodynamic counsellor I am cognisant of early life experiences, family dynamics and parental relationships and recognise that these may be integral to your narrative. Nevertheless, the Humanistic, Person-Centred theory that the client is the best expert of themselves and that with empathy and the therapeutic alliance, this expertise can be revealed and applied, remains the basis of my approach.
