About me and my therapy practice

Bereavement from the death of an animal.

I am passionate about wanting to offer counselling support to people grieving the death of a cherished pet/animal companion, assistance animal or other animal being - whilst also acknowledging that mourning a death, whether that be of an animal or a human being, may be mixed with feelings from previous, or anticipated deaths, or from other life events such as divorce or job changes.

I therefore anticipate that bereavement counselling might bring in other life events, and not focus solely on bereavement, or on pet bereavement exclusively.

My passion to focus on this comes from my own experience of living through repeated deaths of my own animal companions, and experiencing how mourning the death of an animal tends not to be as accepted as is mourning the death of a human being.

I deeply feel that those of us who mourn the loss of our animal companions may desperately need the chance to grieve our loss, and to have our grief recognised, understood and accepted - without being judged, and without being hurried in our grieving - which is something that I try to offer.

I try to offer a simple approach to my counselling - to try to provide non-judgemental support, and time and space to help you explore the bereavement, or anticipated bereavement, that has brought you to counselling.

I have trained and worked with Cruse Bereavement Care as a bereavement counsellor, and have also trained with Blue Cross.

I offer face to face, one to one counselling, and telephone counselling.  I have two locations where I offer counselling - Farringdon, EX5 2HY, and also in central Exeter, Devon.

I also offer some sessions at client's homes, in Devon and the surrounding area.
