About me and my therapy practice
Pet bereavement counselling support: my name is Angela Fletcher, and I am passionate about wanting to support people grieving the death of a cherished pet/animal companion.
My passion to focus on this comes from my own experience of living through repeated deaths of my own animal companions, and the experience of realising that grief from the death of an animal is not as widely accepted by others as is grief from the death of a human being.
For each animal death that I experienced, I found mostly that those around me didn't tend to understand or accept how upset I was from the death of an animal, yet I was aware that if I had been grieving the death of a human being, most likely, that it would have been accepted as 'normal'.
I deeply feel that those of us who mourn the loss of our animal companions may desperately need the chance to grieve our loss, and to be understood - without being judged, and without being hurried in our grieving - which is something that I try to offer.
As human beings, we all experience a variety of interwoven life events, such as separation, divorce, change of job, house moves, having a baby ... and I anticipate that any counselling, including pet bereavement, may also reference other life events, and not focus solely on bereavement.
I try to offer a simple approach to my counselling - to try to provide non-judgemental support, and time and space to help you explore the bereavement, or anticipated bereavement, that has brought you to counselling.
I have trained and worked with Cruse Bereavement Care as a bereavement support counsellor, and have also trained with Blue Cross.
I offer face to face, one to one counselling, and telephone counselling. I have two locations where I offer counselling - Farringdon, EX5 2HY, and also in central Exeter, Devon. I also offer some sessions at client's homes, in Devon and the surrounding area.
