About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes, it might be difficult to share your thoughts and feelings with your family and friends. I aim to offer you a safe and confidential space, allowing you to explore what is on your mind. During these uncertain, unprecedented times, I also offer remote Counselling and Psychotherapy (online and over the phone), as well as concessions to students and key workers. As an Integrative Psychotherapist (MUKCP) and Psychodynamic Counsellor (MBACP, MBPsS) with an MSc (hons.) degree in Psychology, I have worked in a variety of settings (adult counselling services, NHS, the Higher Education Sectors) providing individual counselling and psychotherapy to clients from all walks of life (students, young adults, older clients). This has made me realise that ‘one size does not fit all’ but that my therapeutic approach needs to be specifically 'tailored' to the individual client's needs. I am currently in the final stages of a UKCP accredited Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Metanoia Institute (a joint programme with Middlesex University). Metanoia Institute has a long-standing reputation for providing training of outstanding quality and relevance.
My underlying values as a practitioner encompass recognising the centrality of the multi-layered therapeutic relationship and ‘meeting’ my clients as complex human beings. I endeavour to maintain an authentic, non-judgemental stance of openness and curiosity while focusing on my clients’ needs, aspirations and presenting issues in the context of their unique social and cultural background. Some potential benefits of counselling and psychotherapy might be managing stress and anxiety, developing a stronger sense of Self, the ability to set boundaries and greater self-confidence, regaining emotional balance, increasing assertiveness as well as building more fulfilling and supportive relationships.
Practice description
Some of the issues that I work with include abuse, addictions, health anxiety, performance and social anxiety, bereavement and loss, body image concerns, bullying, cultural awareness and/or alienation, depression, discrimination, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and interpersonal issues, Self and identity, sexuality, trauma, work-related stress and more.
My first session
I understand that choosing a counsellor or psychotherapist can be a daunting task. It is for this reason that I offer all prospective clients an initial consultation (50 minutes) at a reduced price (£30) without commitment at this stage. This first meeting will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have for me, related to my practice, therapeutic stance and theoretical integrative model, training and/or experience, as well as to discuss professional practice issues, such as confidentiality, fees, cancellation policy, etc. We can also talk about the issue(s) affecting you, and your expectations of therapy. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have before booking a session.
