About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Hayley. I'm a qualified, experienced counsellor with a special interest in anxiety and self-esteem.

Would you like to stop letting anxiety affect the way you live your life? Or feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin? To finally meet those goals you keep setting for yourself?

If so, I’m here to help.

I am a supportive counsellor who can help you feel like yourself again. I can support you through changes you want to make, and have experience with a wide range of issues including anxiety, sleep problems, self-esteem, life changes, stress and panic attacks.

Counselling can help you to deal with your challenges, and you can learn the skills really look after yourself, and discover new ways to cope with difficulties.

I’m a Registered Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Professional Member of the Association for Counselling & Therapy Online (ACTO).

Practice description

I provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself. I believe there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to counselling, so our sessions will be tailored to fit your specific needs. I draw on various approaches when I work, including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Solution Focussed Therapies.

I trained at Wealden College of Counselling and Psychotherapy and qualified as an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor in 2019. I am qualified to work online providing counselling by phone and by webcam, having received training from an ACTO approved provider. Additionally, I have recently attended training in CBT for Anxiety, Introduction to the Non-Diet Approach, Positive Psychology, Body Image, and Mindfulness and Stress Reduction.

I have experience in counselling a range of issues including stress, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, low self-esteem, sleep issues, relationship issues, women's issues, bereavement and loss.

My first session

During sessions, I will listen to you with the aim of helping you feel clearer about the extent and effect of your problems, and to help you recognise possible solutions. I work in a warm, understanding way to help you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to achieve your goals. I may offer ideas to work on outside of the sessions, such as keeping a journal or carrying out exercises.

Think of the first session as a free-flowing conversation where we start getting to know each other. You can share more about yourself, and we can also talk about what’s worked or not worked for you in the past. I’ll ask you some questions, such as what brought you to therapy, whether you’ve had therapy before, and whether you have any goals you’d like to reach.

You can ask me questions as well. You might be curious about my training or what sessions will be like. The most important part of a first session is that you see if you feel I’m a good fit for you.
