About me and my therapy practice
My background experience is in working with abuse survivors; as well as adults and children who have experienced trauma in their lives.
I work with sexual abuse, domestic abuse, familial abuse, narcissistic abuse, cult abuse, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, shame, loneliness, hopelessness, grief & loss, anger, self harm and suicidal feelings as well as a broad range of other factors and experiences clients bring to their sessions.
I work with the understanding that 'knowledge is power' and the more you understand what is happening to you; the less you fear what's happening to you. This then enables you to rebuild your life as a happier you, your way, by your rules!
What I offer you is a safe, authentic and real relationship that is nurtured and grown through kindness, trust, honesty and acceptance.
I love what I do and have a genuine passion in helping people to heal and get the best out of their lives and relationships.
I have a thriving private practice in and around the East Midlands as well as being commissioned to design and deliver a service user led counselling and well-being service for homeless young people in Leicester City that supports young parents, care leavers, looked after children and unaccompanied asylum seekers.
I am also a Forest Therapy Practitioner (Shinrin-yoko) and offer a walk and talk style therapy for those who enjoy being around nature.
Going to see a counsellor when we are struggling with our emotional and mental health; or with life in general; should feel as natural as going to see your GP when you have a broken toe!!
So let’s remove the stigma surrounding mental health; counselling is in essence; the biggest investment you can make in yourself personally.
Practice description
I am a Qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist, Trauma Therapist, NLP Practitioner and Forest & Nature Therapy Practitioner.
I offer both face to face, online and telephone sessions at a time which suits you.
I also provide a walk and talk style therapy if you prefer being in and around natural spaces.
I am also trained in providing inner child therapy as well as mindfulness based therapy.
I am insured and GDPR compliant with the Information Commissioner Office.
My first session
Your first session will include a brief understanding of the realms of confidentiality and agree on how we're going to work together; as well as giving you an opportunity to map out and explore what's brought you to therapy initially.
I work in a person centred way; which means that I am guided by what you choose to bring to your sessions at any given time.
We will look at what you would personally like to achieve out of your time with me; and then review and evaluate our work together every 6 sessions.
