About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Caroline, a counsellor who works one to one with clients aged thirteen through to adults. My aim is to provide you with a safe, confidential, compassionate space to explore whatever it is, that has brought you to counselling. We go at your pace and in the way that is best for you. I recognise that you are the expert on your life and firmly believe that you have the answers inside you, even if perhaps at times it doesn’t feel like it.
I understand that it takes courage to reach out for help, which is why I offer a free commitment free thirty minute first appointment. This gives you the opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling, how we might work together, ask any questions you may have. It gives me a chance to get to know you, your background and understand what it is you would like to achieve. After this you can then make an informed decision what is best for you.
In line with current guidance at present I offer video or telephone appointments and will resume face to face sessions when safe to do so, of course there will be no pressure to move from telephone/video if that is your preferred method.
Practice description
As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor I work mainly using the Person Centred model, but I also draw on concepts of Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Doing this allow me the flexibility to work in the way that suits you best and of course, our work is always guided by the BACP Ethical Framework.
I offer both long and short term, fixed and flexible appointments, recognising that these days people have very different life commitments and lifestyles. I actively encourage reviewing our work every six weeks or so to ensure we are meeting your needs and can incorporate any changes or developments that may have occurred for you.
I appreciate that people seek counselling for a variety of reasons, perhaps things that were once manageable now seem less so, or there is something in the past that is now making life difficult. Of course it could be that a something has happened in your life recently and you feel lost or it’s difficult to cope with and want some support. Then again, maybe you find yourself feeling anxious or depressed and just don’t know where this feeling has come from or what’s caused it. For this reason no subject is off limits, yet I will never push you to go somewhere you do not want to.
My first session
Following on from your free thirty minute session, if you choose to work with me, each session I offer is then fifty minutes long. During this time you can explore all of your thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions to those situations that you feel will be useful or are puzzling or distressing you. I will listen, giving you space and time to look at things, provide understanding and help you gain insight so that you can move forward. What I can help with
