About me and my therapy practice

Finding "the one"...

It's hard isn't it. You're support to just start talking to someone you've never met before and know nothing about. I get the absurdity of this and yet client's tell me that within a few moments of meeting me, they feel safe, calm and looked after. It is important to take some time and perhaps meet a few counsellors to find the right fit for you, but when it happens, therapy should feel like gentle, supportive and insightful.

Verity means "truth"

So is it coincidence that my clients describe me as "genuinely caring", warm and knowledgeable. These qualities in me help you to place your trust in me, so that we can start to look below the surface together and see if we can make sense of what has been and look start to plan for what might be in the future.

What's it like to have counselling with Verity?

We will work at your pace. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling and what your hopes and goals are for the future. Then together will will explore a path forward. Sometimes this means looking back, which I will do with you with great care. As well as listening, sometime I might offer other methods of working together, such as using metaphors, images, objects, pens, papers and lots of other things. From time to time, I may use my own knowledge of human development, psychology and transactional analysis to teach you any relevant pieces of theory which might help you to make sense of how you are feeling.

I work with adults and young people who are struggling with all sorts of life's challenges, including for example anxiety, depression and bereavement. I also specialise in working with gender diversity and love everything rainbow related!
