About me and my therapy practice
Hello there, my name is Suzie Pugh. I am a qualified, experienced counsellor providing a confidential and caring space for you to discuss the issues which have brought you to therapy. Feeling safe, being truly listened to and not judged are all part of the therapeutic process.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP. This means I have met the quality standards set out by the BACP who are the UKs largest accredited association under the Professional Standards Authority. The scheme aims to protect the public by helping them choose health and care professionals who are competent and trustworthy.
Practice description
Our counselling session provides you with a safe, confidential and impartial space to share your thoughts, your feelings or concerns without fear of being judged, interrupted or unheard. Each 50 minute session is completely your time, and whilst I will not advise you or tell you what to do, I will help you explore options, go deeper into your thought processes or accompany you on your emotional journeys.
Being a Person-Centred Counsellor, each session is focused solely on you and this includes what you would like to talk about and at what pace. There is no right or wrong way of approaching your first session. You may well feel a little nervous or even unsure to start with. You may feel emotional, or the opposite of that. No matter how you feel, or think or say, this is right for you personally at that time. There is no judgement or expectation from me as your counsellor.
I offer short term and long term counselling options, offer a limited number of concessionary spaces and I can be available day time and evenings. I specialise in helping people with: obsessive thoughts, anxiety, depression, low self esteem and relationship issues.
The first step of making contact can feel quite daunting, so please feel free to simply email or text me, in confidence, if preferred. Alternatively you can call me for a discussion about your needs.
My first session
During your first session, we will briefly discuss and go over the counselling contract. You may wish to take this away for further perusal. Once you feel comfortable, we can begin our session, at your own pace. I will let you know as we near the end of the session, and we can discuss whether you would like another session. There is no pressure to decide there and then.
