About me and my therapy practice
NOTE: I AM CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR NEW ENQUIRIES
I am Eleanor (she/her) and I am a qualified supervisor to Advanced Certificate level, experienced in working with both qualified and trainee counsellors.
I work from a primarily humanistic base, and am keen to develop a collaborative, supportive and trusting relationship where your preferred approach, skills, fears and development needs are welcomed, while always keeping the client at the heart of what we do.
My initial training was in Hawkins & Shohet’s ‘Seven Eyed Model of Supervision’, and I am qualified to Advanced Certificate level. I am able to draw on all relevant experience in order to fully support you and your clients.
I have a Masters in Clinical Counselling, and now lecture on that course at the University of Chester. I am a trauma-informed practitioner and am on the writing panel for BACP Good Practice in Action resources.
Practice description
Supervision is such a valuable resource for practitioners, and it is important to feel supported, challenged, held, stretched and heard by your supervisor.
I offer individual or group supervision. Sessions are for 1 or 1.5 hours, dependent on your requirements. Longer time is allocated for group sessions if needed.
I also offer supervision of supervision, working with qualified supervisors to help manage their caseload and keep this separate from their work as counsellors, as well as clinical supervision for case workers and other roles which require support.
Finally, I am also available to provide a more ad hoc supervisory support if required. This may be because an ethical conflict prevents you bringing a certain client to your regular supervisor. Maybe you would just like to explore your work with a fresh pair of eyes. Or perhaps you are seeking support in working with a client’s bereavement. Whatever the reason, I am more than happy to discuss any such one-off enquiries.
My first session
Every supervisory relationship will be different, as with counselling, so a first session is a chance to begin getting to know one another, and checking if we're the right fit.
I'll be interested in what your hopes, needs and fears around supervision are, and you'll have questions or things to check with me.
Supervision needs to be a trusting, grounding relationship, so the practicalities - will this work logistically as well as emotionally - are just as important. Therefore if I'm not the right fit, I'm happy to help you find someone who is.

About me and my therapy practice
NOTE: I AM CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR NEW ENQUIRIES
Hello, I am Eleanor (she/her). As an experienced counsellor with a decade in practice I know change isn't always easy, but just by deciding to browse here today, you are one step closer to creating a different balance in your life. By working from a humanistic standpoint I create the space where you can hear yourself clearly in a safe supportive environment, and address the issues which are bothering you.
I have many years experience working in bereavement. My work is trauma-informed and Complicated Grief-informed.
I hold an MA in Clinical Counselling, and I now tutor on that course at the University of Chester.
I am also a qualified supervisor, meaning I support other counsellors in their work too, and am on the writing panel for BACP Good Practice in Action resources.
Choosing a counsellor can be overwhelming, so please contact me if you have any questions, or would like to discuss how we might be able to work together.
Practice description
I recognise everyone's needs and challenges are different, yet we have much in common; the right to be met with kindness and empathy, to be free of judgement, to be kept safe in our vulnerability and supported in our journey to dig under the surface and explore what may be feeling out of sync in our lives.
I have worked with bereavement, loss and palliative issues for a number of years, while also working with issues including childhood abuse, sexual assault, addiction, gender and sexuality, family dynamics, workplace and legal issues, stress, anxiety, depression and suicidal feelings to name a few.
My practice is also trauma-informed and CGT-informed (Complicated Grief Therapy), so please contact me if you would like to know more about this and whether these ways of working may be right for you.
My first session
Our first session is offered at reduced rate. I will explain some of the boundaries of our work together, and can tell you a bit more about how counselling works if you are unfamiliar with the process.
We will use the session to begin getting to know each other, and discussing how we might work together. You can see if I might be the right counsellor for you, and I can see if I feel I'm the best option for you.
There is no obligation at any time to continue working with me and I am always happy to help you find another counsellor if it seems they will be a better fit.
What matters most to me is that you receive the right support for you.
