About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified (MBACP) integrative counsellor, with experience working with a wide range of people and concerns including:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Bereavement
• Trauma
• Anger
• Self Esteem
• Relationships
In addition, I hold a qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have experience working in the NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service where I supported a number of different clients in short term, solution focused therapy.
I provide an authentic, empathic, non judgemental environment in which to explore thoughts and feelings fully. Therapy can be a powerful tool to self discovery, exploring behavioural patterns, thought process and how past can impact present. My approach is supportive and collaborative, tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.
Other:
I am DISC certified. DISC is a psychometric tool that enables you to find out what your communication and behaviour preferences are and raise awareness of your motivational drivers. This can be beneficial in helping you to understand yourself and others on a deeper level.
I am a group facilitator for Action for Happiness (a registered charity) 'Happiness Habits' course.
Practice description
I practice the below modalities, which can be adapted based on individual client need.
The Person Centred approach focuses on creating the right conditions for an effective therapeutic relationship, building trust and empathy, creating a safe space encouraging honesty and insight.
The Psychodynamic approach considers the effects of our unconscious, revisiting past experiences and how that might shape our personality, thoughts, feelings and coping mechanisms today.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is designed to challenge our belief system and ultimately work to change the negative behaviours associated with it.
Therapy can be a powerful tool in helping to understand yourself better. Through clarity of thought we can work towards a solution that is right for you.
My first session
Starting therapy feel overwhelming. I offer a 30 minute free consultation which will help you decide if you'd like to proceed with therapy with me. We can discuss your needs and expectations, and you can ask any questions you might have.
