About me and my therapy practice
As we go through life we experience things that test, challenge and fundamentally change us. We might find ourselves feeling stuck, not knowing how to cope, or simply feeling lost and disconnected from ourselves and others around us.
Using a person-centred approach I offer counselling to support individuals dealing with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, work stress, bereavement, personal identity, trauma and abuse.
You might be feeling apprehensive about seeking counselling, but I'd like to reassure you that I offer a supportive space, in which we go at your pace. I am non-directive in my practice, which means I don't tell you what to do. Instead, I will help you explore your experience, and identify the areas that feel most important to work on, to help you find how to move forward in a way that works for you.

Practice description
I aim to offer every client a space that feels sufficiently safe to allow you to bring your truth and your authentic thoughts and feelings. There will never be any judgement. no matter what you're dealing with. You will always be accepted, wholly and unconditionally.
Ultimately, I take a caring interest in you, your experiences and what has brought you to counselling. I am invested in helping each and every client I work with to arrive at where they want to be in life, emotionally, psychologically and directionally.
I currently offer online counselling and hope to soon be able to offer face to face counselling in York.
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes and cost £45.
It is important to me that counselling is accessible to everyone who feels they need support and therefore I have several concessionary slots at reduced cost. Please ask about this if the cost of counselling is a barrier for you.
I also offer reduced cost sessions to students of counselling and psychotherapy.
My first session
It is important to choose a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable. To help you experience what it might be like for us to work together, I offer a free initial 20-minute telephone conversation, during which you can bring any questions, concerns and specific goals you have around engaging in counselling.
I hope this approach gives you the chance to make an informed choice about whether you feel we are a good fit, and whether you would like to enter into therapy with me as your counsellor.

As a person-centred counsellor I can help - whether you want to transition from a place of uncertainty and stuckness to one of clarity, purpose and peace, or to heal from trauma, loss and anxiety.
I will be empathically and compassionately alongside you, helping you notice and connect to yourself and the things that are troubling you. We will use this awareness to become curious about your current way of being, to help you heal, grow and connect with the needs and greater potential of your true self.

Practice description
Going to see a counsellor is a big decision, and it's important that you find someone you feel comfortable with. My approach is non-directive, which means I won't tell you what to do or offer solutions. Instead I will support you to find your own answers to life's challenges, so that you are able to move forward in a way that is authentic and meaningful to you - one step at a time.
The counselling relationship is a unique space in which you are offered the care, validation and safety you might not allow yourself in day to day life. You will be accepted, just as you are and I am committed to offering an understanding and supportive environment in which you can explore your feelings and experiences safely.
