As a professional association, our priority is providing you with a consistently high level of service and supporting you with access to the relevant tools, CPD, guidance and resources you need at every stage of your professional journey.

Continuing to invest in our member experience in this way is dependent on our financial stability and our ability to work effectively within rising operating costs.

For these reasons, we’ve made the difficult decision to increase membership fees from Monday 1 April 2024.

We’re aware that some of our members may be facing challenging financial circumstances and have support in place to help those who may need it. You’ll find more information about the support available below.

We’re not increasing the costs of our additional subscriptions including membership of our divisions, access to our CPD Hub and advertising on our BACP Therapist Directory.

New membership fees

Our fee increase comes into effect for members renewing from Monday 1 April 2024 and represents an average annual increase of 4.1% across our membership categories.

This increase will take effect from the date your annual membership is renewed.

You can see a full summary of the changes to each membership category on this page.

Our impact over the last 12 months

Membership fees help us to deliver significant impact for you, your clients and the profession.

Between 2023 and 2024 this included the launch of our Equality, diversity and inclusion strategy, our continued policy and campaign work on behalf of members, and our ongoing public awareness raising activity.

You can read more about the work we’ve done and where we’ve had the most significant impact, in our 2023 to 2034 Impact Report, which we’re excited to share with you very soon.

Supporting our members financially

We understand some of you may be facing financial difficulty and weve support in place to help.

We offer lower fees to our student members and up to 50% discount for members who are unwaged, on low income or in receipt of state benefits or pension.

All members also have the option to spread the cost of membership by paying via Direct Debit over a 10-month period, at no additional charge.

Please get in touch with us to talk about any potential financial support or view our reduced fee policy for more information.

Our commitment to you

Our priority is to make sure we’re giving you the very best quality of service as your membership association and to continue to improve the way we support you at every stage of your career.

It’s our privilege to work on behalf of you, your clients and for the wider profession, and we’d like to thank you for your continued membership.
