About me and my therapy practice
I support people to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives, by reducing emotional distress and challenging unhelpful or rigid thought patterns. I have practiced privately for a number of years, and have also worked at the Priory Hospital, an addiction support agency and within numerous colleges. I work with individuals and with couples.
Perhaps you are fed up with feeling, living or thinking in a certain way, and this is affecting your work life, your romantic relationships, your friendships or your self-esteem. You may be feeling angry, anxious, depressed, emotional and/or have a berating inner critic. You may be experiencing grief, or fertility issues. It may feel like something needs to be addressed or something needs to change in your life, but you’re unsure what that is. Or how to do it.
I will work integratively with you, collaboratively using three different approaches from my psychotherapy practice:
- Person centred: Here we work on how you see yourself, your life and your experiences in the present and day to day life. Or there may be an event going on in your life right now that you need to talk about.
- Psychodynamic: This is where we may look at your past experiences and repetitive patterns that seem to continually affect your life and relationships.
- CBT: Focusing on your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and actions, and how they affect one another. CBT is more of a solution based and goal driven method; 10-15 sessions of CBT can be especially useful in treating anxiety, depression and OCD behaviours.
