About me and my therapy practice
I am Lesley Gardiner, a registered BACP counsellor working in Brighton & Hove and online.
I provide a safe, calm and confidential environment where together we can identify, explore and work with issues that may be troubling or overwhelming you.
At some stage in our lives we may all hit a low point or crisis. Depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, separation, bereavement, illness, relationship issues, work-related issues and other profound life challenges can leave us feeling sad, distraught, helpless or hopeless. Counselling offers you a confidential and safe space to talk. It supports you in developing ways to cope and improve things.
I have undergone rigorous training in Integrative Humanistic Counselling, an holistic approach which aims to support clients in realising their potential.
I too have undergone extensive counselling so understand how difficult it can be to take that first step.
I have worked with clients within the NHS Talking Therapies service, helping them with a range of issues. I particularly welcome clients dealing with LGBTQ+ issues and those coping with chronic illness.
You are welcome to email me to discuss your current situation and set up a free initial 20 minute zoom or telephone call.
All communications between us will be treated in confidence and I attempt to reply to all enquiries promptly.
50-minute session fees are £60.

About me and my therapy practice
You’ve already taken the first step in seeking help by arriving here. It may feel nerve-wracking - but help is out there and things can get better. I work with individuals in a kind, supportive, non-judgemental environment. We will go at your pace and work only with what you bring.
I would like to offer you a free 15-minute telephone consultation where you can ask questions and look at how we might approach therapy together. It is entirely normal to feel nervous at this stage but hopefully this initial conversation will help ease any concerns.
If you are happy to proceed then meeting weekly, in person or online, for 50-minute sessions would be the ideal way to work together. And I can’t emphasise enough - we will take this slowly and in a supportive environment.
Practice description
I work with individuals. Maybe you recognise some of the following?
Areas I can help with include:
• Sexual identity
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Loss
• Trauma
• Bereavement
• Sex and Relationships
• Grief
• Work pressures
• Stress and burnout
• Low self-esteem
• Relationship challenges
• Long-term relationship difficulties
• A feeling of unplanned changes in marriage/relationships
• Losing the individual in relationships
• Trust issues
I began my training at Birkbeck, University of London, before completing a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and have worked with clients within the NHS Talking Therapy Service. I particularly welcome clients dealing with LGBTQ+ issues and those coping with chronic illness.
Before qualifying as a therapist I had a 30 year career in challenging, highly pressured work environments. If you are going through something similar, I can truly empathise.
I have experience, through my training, of working with people challenged by the areas listed above.

As previously mentioned, our first session will be complimentary: this will take the form of a free 15 minute phone call where you can ask questions and look at how we might approach therapy together.
