We’re looking for passionate and skilled members to join our Divisional Executive Committees and help make a difference to our organisation. As a membership organisation, it’s crucial that members have a voice and are involved with the running of our divisions.
Why our Committees make a difference
Our Committees play an important role in championing and supporting best practice across the professions.
As a Committee member, you’ll use your skills to help steer our divisional work and uphold the highest professional standards. You might be involved in:
- engaging with our members to better understand their views and what they'd like to see from the division
- working collaboratively with our BACP Divisions team and BACP staff
- promoting the division's area of expertise and bringing best practice into the work of the division and BACP
- networking and representing us and our members to wider groups
- acting as an ambassador and advocate for BACP and for counselling provision
We welcome applications from members with the skills set out below. This is a voluntary role, and while it doesn't offer financial compensation, it provides valuable experience, the chance to gain and develop professional skills, networking opportunities and the chance to make a significant impact within the organisation.
Creating a diverse divisional structure
We’re committed to creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
We want to improve the diversity of our Committees and therefore encourage applications from members of all backgrounds, life experiences, career paths and diversity of thought. We especially encourage applications from student members and those from underrepresented groups.
What we're looking for
If you have skills and experience in the following areas, we’d like to hear from you, if you:
- practice as a counsellor with a demonstrable understanding of your area of expertise
- have an awareness of diversity and the importance of taking this into account in practice
- have good and independent judgement
- are able to think creatively and strategically
- understand the responsibilities of the position
- are IT savvy and willing to use IT on BACP business
- have sound communication skills
Additionally, we value:
- an understanding of organising events or CPD workshops
- an interest in promoting good practice or research
- experience of chairing meetings or attending committees
If you believe you’d add value to our Committees but don’t meet all the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you. We encourage you to apply and explain the value you’d bring in your application.
Why join us?
By joining a BACP Divisional Executive Committee you’ll get the opportunity to:
- use and develop your skills and expertise
- make a meaningful contribution and impact to BACP and the profession
- collaborate with a diverse group of professionals
