Domestic abuse awareness, spotting the signs part 2

Nour and Hussain share details about the case of Raneem and the impact it has had on UK legislation and introducing Raneem’s Law. They highlight the importance of recognising various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and psychological, and provide strategies for intervention and support.

Intersectionality 101

Aseia Rafique explains what the term intersectionality means and why it is important, not only in the context of EDI, but in understanding the term to embed EDI in the way we work.

Legacy in action: my journey in counselling, entrepreneurship and purposeful legacy building

The session will focus on sharing Myira's journey as a counsellor, overcoming the barriers they've experienced and how they were able to achieve success in creating a portfolio business, to share and inspire students on their journey, with hints and tips along the way and to encourage students to reflect on opportunities in the field and to think broadly about their careers.

Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Centre (RSACC)

The session focuses on The Believed Project, an innovative initiative supporting women in prison who have experienced sexual violence and abuse. Piloted between 2018 and 2020 at HMP Low Newton, the project offered a 20-week counselling program, a 12-week Recovery Toolkit group, and staff training on trauma-informed care. Over 200 women engaged with the services, many reporting improved emotional regulation, decision-making, and self-confidence.

Embracing inclusivity - going beyond the therapeutic encounter

Veronica Rosello aims to develop confidence in our role as significant member of a wider ‘team’ supporting children and young people who exhibit neurodiverse traits, whether with or without diagnoses. Addressing potential fears, challenges and barriers around capabilities, both our own and those of our neurodiverse clients.
