BACP Ethical Framework sets the standards for all members practice. It is a living document that needs to adapt and develop with the profession. This online workshop event will explore the new Ethical Framework with reflection on its application, through use of discussion, live role play and supervision.

9.30am - 9.45am	Event welcome from Caroline Jesper, BACP's Head of Professional Standards
9.45am - 10.45am	Session 1 -New Ethical Framework: setting the scene What does the new Ethical Framework look like in real practice? Andrew Reeves and Myira Khan introduce the New Ethical Framework 2026, exploring its key principles and what it means for contemporary counselling, psychotherapy and supervision practice and training. Through practical supervision dialogue and case examples, the session brings the Framework to life. The session concludes with reflection, audience engagement and a dedicated Q&A, offering an opportunity to consider how the new Framework can inform and strengthen our practice.

10.55am – 11.55am	Session 2 - Navigating the principles of the Ethical Framework How do we navigate the ethical principles of the new BACP Ethical Framework when they come into tension with the realities of practice? Andrew Reeves and Myira Khan explore the principles through conversation and a practical demonstrations, bringing ethical dilemmas to life within a therapy service setting. The session will consider how the principles can guide thoughtful decision-making when practice is complex, followed by audience reflection and a dedicated Q&A.

12.05pm – 1.05pm	Session 3 - Applying the Ethical Framework in Practice How do we translate the Ethical Framework into confident, thoughtful practice? This session explores core professional responsibilities and the importance of clear ethical boundaries, while recognising that ethical practice is a process of reflective practice and ethical decision-making. We will consider the nuance of applying the Framework to real-world situations and using it as a guide for reflective ethical practice, followed by a dedicated Q&A.

Andrew Reeves has worked extensively with counselling trainees over many years, both as a supervisor in practice and as a trainer, Andrew is committed to the highest standards in counselling education.
