The Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions 2026 places ethical decision-making at the heart of professional practice.
It encourages decisions that are collaborative where possible, transparent, and grounded in fairness, equality, and justice, while recognising that there is not always a single 'right' answer.
There are many ways in which members can work with people to make decisions, and we must be able to give a rationale that explains our reasoning and an account of the internal and external factors that informed those decisions.
The rationale for ethical decision-making set out in part A of the Ethical Framework 2026 gives a framework for this decision-making process.
